you may try to build some kind of relationship with her, before giving such a gift.
sure ,why not? Sounds very sweet.
I wouldn't. If you just met her start small. remember every year you have to improve from your last gift. So if you give her a painting what do ou give her next year that's better? Ask her to pose for you
As a woman I have to say that I would feel odd if a man that I barely know gave me a gift. However, I appreciate art (especially oil painting!) and would accept it kindly unless the man was trying to push me into a relationship. If a man offered me a gift in expectation of being with me, I would be uncomfortable and feel the need to make it clear to him that I am under no obligation by accepting the gift. So I guess it depends on what your intentions are.
I think it is very nice of you to want to give her a gift such as an original work of art, so I hope she appreciates it. Just don't expect to receive anything from her in return other than ';Thank You, Merry Christmas.'; You never know what could happen though, you may very well spark her interest. Good luck. :)
WANTING TO GIVE OF YOURSELF IS A NATURAL HUMAN TRAIT BUT AFTER YEARS OF EXPERIENCE I HAVE LEARNED THAT TO OVERDO IT IS FAR WORSE THAN NOT DOING IT AT ALL. PUT YOURSELF IN HER SHOES YOU HARDLY KNOW THIS PERSON AND THEN YOU GET A PAINTING FROM THEM IT IS DIFFICULT TO TELL WHY THAT HAPPENED IF THERE HAS NOT BEEN SOME DECENT GROUND WORK LAID BEFORE FOR EXCHANGING GIFTS. SHE MAY WELL WONDER WHAT IT IS THAT YOU WANT. NOW THE TRICKY PART... SINCE YOU DO NOT TALK WITH HER MUCH IF YOU CAN ARRANGE FOR HER TO SEE SEVERAL OF THE PAINTINGS THAT YOU HAVE DONE THEN IT WOULD BE SAFER TO GIVE HER ONE SHE REACTS THE BEST TO AND AT LEAST SOLVE THAT PART OF BLIND GIVING I HAVE PEOPLE WHO LIKE MY WORK AND I WOULD RATHER THEY HAVE GOOD HOMES WITH PEOPLE WHO LIKE THEM THAN JUST BE BOUGHT FOR SOMEONE WHO MAY OR MAY NOT REALLY LIKE IT. BOTTOM LINE IS THAT YOU NEED TO COMMUNICATE WITH THIS WOMAN SOME MORE BEFORE YOU SPRING SOMETHING AS PERSONAL AND EASILY MISUNDERSTOOD AS AN ORIGINAL PAINTING ON HER AS A GIFT THAT SHE IS BLINDEDSIDED WITH.
Do it only if you are willing to part with your painting and expect nothing in return.
