I'm trying to find info on an oil painting. It's been in the family forever.?

It's a three mast sailing vessel on high seas looks like a storm brewing. The artist name is Grant with the number 25 or 26 under his name (I know that's the year but more like 1826) bottom left corner painted comment, it must be what he named it.. Ivy Queen of the seas. The word 'Ivy' also appears on the ship. Also if you know how to clean this lovely but old painting safely I'd appreciate it. Thank youI'm trying to find info on an oil painting. It is very important that you contact a musuem and get advice from a professional before you clean it.I'm trying to find info on an oil painting. It's been in the family forever.?
THERE WAS A PAINTER NAMED RICHARD GRANT WHITE CIRC 1800 TO 1895 POSSIBLY THIS COULD BE, WOULD ACTUALLY NEED MORE INFORMATION...EMAIL ME.

AS FAR AS CLEANING if there is no paint loose on the surface a gentle damp cloth would do just fine. soft cloth...cold water.

water will not soak into the surface of water unless submersed

also there was a mater oil painter of same simular style and subject matter called james grant wilson about the same circ.
