there are wedges (for a lack of the proper word) to place between the canvas and the frame. You can get them at hobby lobby or Michael's - craft stores or you can go to a framing business and have them fix it. It is easy and should be cheap to fix. If you look at the back of framed canvases in the craft stores the wedges are attached to the back. Good luck.Help.We just bought an oil painting on canvass. It has large wrinkles in the middle. Any hints to remedy this?
Canvas is easily affected by temperature and humidity. It DOES relax over time. Buy a little spray bottle like that used for misting laundry when ironing it. Spray the back of the canvas until it is damp to the touch. As it dries it should tighten up. If this does not work, call the nearest campus that has an art department and ask for an instructor or even art student who can take the canvas off of the stretcher strips for you and just restretch and staple it for you. It really is an easy fix. I have done it for people on several occasions. I am a professional artist and I have restretched paintings of other artists several times.
Hi,
If the wrinkles are from the canvas, not from the paint itself, then you may try to iron it very carefully.
Sprinkle it carefully with some water.
However you may want to post this question at the Wetcanvas Oils Forum.
Did you buy that by mail ?
The artist/seller should accept it back and refund you.
Kind regards,

The painter may not have respected the ';fat on meagre'; rule.
Send it back and get your money back!
