Any tips for oil painting?

steps for setting up for a painting.. preparing the background.. addatives that you like and how to use them.. ect.

i have a book on techniques, i just need to know the basics firstAny tips for oil painting?
I always set up the same way. canvas in front of me, pallet to the right with brushes in front of that. I put all the paint that I will use on top of my pallet on the far edge of it. I start with the yellows through reds to the blues on the right and white at the end. I just use paint and turpentine since I don't do any impasto or thick paint work. Also my work doesn't usually have much glazing.

I paint on self stretched dixie canvas that is the heaviest canvas you can buy. I work with Rowley paints because of their buttery consistency.

I usually start with a wash of white, flesh and yellow ochre, it gives me this warm coral color underpainting that shines the warmth trough.

It takes a long time to learn how to paint but with patience and practice you can learn to be a great painter.Any tips for oil painting?
